On July 20th 2026 I jumped on a plane and headed to Bloomington Indiana and I wondered if anyone on the flight knew that I was about to have the best week of my life at the 73rd National Junior Classical League Convention knee deep the classics with thousands of others who also decided to spend a week of their summer in the Hoosier state.

After arriving at the university and unpacking my suitcase Cassidy, Amalia and Izzy headed to dinner and I went downstairs to help bring up the spirit boxes from the bus. Then we all headed over to the building where Fellowship was held.

Spirit: with the addition of  all new silent cheers and the banana spirit cheer written by me, we cheered our heads off and screamed for seven days straight  winning third place for Virginia.

Service: Virginia had an amazing turn out at Service this year. The service project was to write birthday cards and put them into envelopes that would be sent to the elderly.

The Election: there were many nominees running for national office but a fan favorite of Edison was a guy from Florida running for second vice president and his motto was shazzle my dazzle.

Ludi & Oylimpica: Campbell competed in Ludi Ultimate Frisbee as a part of the California Alabama combined team and together they beat Texas. I competed in Ludi Cornhole. After three tight rounds my partner and I were finalists and achieved second place.

Certamen: Izzy was on Certamen Team purple and they made it all the way to semi finals

Dance: The farewell dance as always was a blast. It was held in the IU Biddle hotel which was a bit of a walk from the dorms but it was worth it. Multiple times a big group would form a circle and run around it or one at a time people would take turns and dance inside the circle.

Every year convention gets better and better and more friends are made. I can't wait for next year.
